SUMMARY

The CNC Technical Manager is responsible for establishing Standard Operation Procedures, Operator Training, preventative maintenance planning, and Quality Control all the CNC’s for Smart Lam North America Dothan Division. Manages the safe, efficient, and timely flow of all CNC operations. Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure consisten cy throughout the division. While this role is based in Dothan, AL, it will eventually take over all CNC operations through the company at both facilities.

DUTIES

AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Is the expert within the company on the CLT and glulam CNC machines at the Dothan, AL Facility.
  • Oversees the operators of each machine on each shift. Owns the training, operation, safety, quality of the material produced on each machine center.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains processes to enhance/maintain safe working environment, exceptional product accuracy, and a thorough quality assurance program.
  • Supports plant business units’ goals of safety, quality, productivity, and customer service.
  • Works closely with Plant Managers, Design and Engineering, & Project Managers to ensure timely deliveries match customer’s needs.
  • Capable of training all operators, and CNC support staff.
  • Works with Plant Maintenance Managers, who along with CNC operators, schedule and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Maintains critical spares inventory to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Ordering and maintaining all necessary tooling for operations.
  • Reviews, analyzes, modifies, and implements efficient and effective department processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Prepares all required reports and correspondence.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors department budget; manages expenses within approved budget constraints.
  • Identifies, documents, and implements opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Assigns duties and monitors quality of work; assures staff conforms to organizational policies and procedures and government regulations.
  • Provides day-to-day guidance and oversight of subordinates; actively works to promote a safe work environment and efficiency of efforts.
  • Keeps up to date on overall activities of the team, identifying problem areas and taking corrective actions.
  • CNC programmers will report to this role with a dotted line immediately and move to direct reporting as soon as proficiency is shown in all areas.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Technical diploma or Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in related field or equivalent
  • Four years related experience or equivalent.
  • Advanced proficiency in Hundegger (Cambium) and Uniteam Programming
  • Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating subordinates.
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Competence in subordinates’ duties and tasks.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees.
  • Proficient on MS Suites
  • Proven leadership and business acumen skills.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
  • Ability to understand any and all safety requirements and cautions.
  • Ability to perform the physical labor necessary.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.
