This employee will fabricate and assemble structural metal products such as framework or shells for machinery, ovens, tanks, stacks, and metal parts for buildings and bridges.

• Develop layout and plans sequence of operations.
• Locate and mark bending and cutting lines onto workpiece.
• Set up and operate fabricating machines such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, and drill presses.
• Hammer, chip, and grind workpiece to cut, bend, and straighten metal; preheat work pieces.
• Position, align, fit, and weld parts together.
• Design and construct templates and fixtures.
• Verify conformance of workpiece to specifications.
• Fabricate and assemble sheet metal products.
• Set up and operate machine tools associated with fabricating shops such as radial drill press, end mill, and edge planer.
• Other duties may be assigned.

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

• One to three months related experience and/or training.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Regularly required to stand; occasionally required to walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
