To supervise the day-to-day nursing activities of the facility in accordance with current federal, state and local standards governing the facility, and as may be directed by the Director of Nursing Services or Assistant Director of Nursing Services, to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

• Direct the day-to-day functions of nursing activities; develop and maintain nursing policies, procedures and manuals.
• Complete and maintain medical forms, reports, evaluations and resident charts; admit, transfer and discharge residents as required.
• Ensure nursing services personnel provide proper resident care in accordance with written policies and participate in quality assurance program.
• Review resident discharge plans, participate in government agency surveys and inspections.
• Interpret department policies to personnel, residents, families, visitors and government agencies.
• Prepare and give reports and recommendations to the Director of Nursing Services, and implement recommendations from administration.
• Maintain proper recordkeeping, medication administration, restraint use, safety procedures and physician collaboration.
• Assist in arranging transportation for discharged residents and inform families of resident death.

• Ability to read and write in English.
• Ability to communicate with residents, families and personnel, and remain calm under stress.
• Must be able to assist in lifting and/or transferring residents weighing between 100 to 250 pounds.
