Overview

Are you an experienced Clinical or Counselling Psychologist who is looking to work in a dedicated team? An opportunity has arisen to join the Adult Psychology Service within Dorset Health Care University NHS Foundation Trust. The job is based with Bournemouth East CMHT, Kings Park Hospital.

This is a full-time post (37.5 hours per week) and flexible working is available.

Responsibilities
  • You will be solely accountable and responsible for the direct delivery of psychological services to adults with significant mental illness/disorder.
  • You will be skilled in assessment, formulation, and the delivery of highly specialised psychological therapies where highly complex facts must be considered and expert opinion may differ.
  • You will provide highly specialised advice to clients, their families, carers where appropriate, and to the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • You will undertake clinically relevant research and audit evaluation, and supervise the research & development activities of Assistants and Trainee Clinical Psychologists.
  • You will be responsible for developing highly specialised programmes of care, making judgements involving highly complex facts or situations, and analysing, interpreting and comparing a range of options.
  • You will need to share sensitive information with clients, their carers and other professionals whose opinions may differ.
  • You will receive regular highly specialised supervision in line with good practice guidelines.

The Adult Psychology Service is committed to supporting staff development by providing high quality training and supervision opportunities, and regular opportunities to connect, support and learn from each other. The role offers opportunities to develop your own individual therapy skills, work on service development, pursue professional development, and collaborate with a range of skilled professionals dedicated to working with adults.

Requirements and Conditions
  • Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service can present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
  • Driving is essential for this role. You will be required to have a full and valid UK driving licence and to travel using your own vehicle on Trust business.
