The Role
A 35‑year‑old wheelchair user living with cerebral palsy is looking for reliable, motivated and supportive people to join and build up their team in Verwood. This is a non‑medical, enablement‑focused role supporting independence, choice and everyday life at home and in the community. They run their own business and wish to live an active, organised life that balances work, social time and self‑care.
Maintaining energy, boundaries and independence is key, and having the right support helps make that possible. Days may include a mix of home‑based work, social plans and appointments – sometimes busy, sometimes quiet, as life sometimes is. A calm, practical approach and an appreciation of a good sense of humour go a long way here. The aim is to work alongside someone who values communication, autonomy and mutual respect.
Duties
- Personal care (showering, dressing, hair and styling)
- Household tasks and meal preparation
- Shopping and errands
- Social activities: support meeting friends, attending events, swimming, walks or appointments
- Pet care (small older dogs)
- Light admin or organisational support when needed
This is a choice‑focused role, taking direction and helping things run smoothly so the person you support can stay focused and engaged in both work and life.
Personal Qualities and Attributes required- Reliable, respectful and trustworthy
- Attitude over experience
- Good communication and social skills
- Able to follow instructions and use initiative
- Flexible and organised
- Comfortable with dogs
- Full UK driving licence (use of Motability vehicle during shifts)
FOR EMPLOYED: This role may be subject to a DBS check; your employer may also ask for references. You must be able to prove the right to work in the UK. No sponsor ships are available.
FOR SE: The person undertaking this role may be requested to supply evidence of DBS clearance and/or references where appropriate.
Hours- Part‑time with a funding of 15.5 hours per week plus an additional annual allowance for activities.
- There are a mix of short morning and evening shifts and longer weekend shifts on offer.
- Shifts are arranged in advance based on mutual availability and needs.
- The role can be shared, so you don’t need to cover every day; it could suit people looking for a few flexible regular shifts.
- Ideally, we are looking for someone to start soon, with both temporary and ongoing availability considered.
- £13.50 – £14.00 per hour (employed)
- £16.00 per hour (self‑employed)
Part time
