Role OverviewRota:
You will be expected to do unsocial hours as the role requires providing a 24 hour, 365 day service. Base
Location:
Royal Bournemouth hospital. Interview Date: 4th February 2026.
We are looking for labour ward Coordinators in addition to our existing team with a focus on the health and wellbeing of our patients and staff, reducing risk and encouraging patient flow.
Responsibilities- Oversee the labour ward in the "shift lead" role, ensuring safe, efficient, and compassionate care.
- Support the department by providing guidance to students and preceptors with cannulation and suturing.
- Encourage patient flow, identify and reduce "red flags".
- Receive phone calls at night from staff regarding absence, overseeing breaks, and support in times of escalation.
- Undertake midwifery duties where required to support patient care.
UHD is investing, developing and transforming Trust services in line with the New Hospital Programme. Some services may move site this year or next, either temporarily or permanently. Recruiting Managers will be happy to answer any service‑specific questions at interview.
If a role or service relocates as part of a planned move, excess mileage will not be reimbursed. Travel from home to the new work base will be classed as a normal commute. Any other changes will be managed under Trust or national terms and conditions.
