About Unified Academy

Unified Academy is a specialist school for boys aged 9 to 16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. All of our students have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and many have experienced challenges that mean they require a highly personalised and nurturing approach to education.

Students are at the heart of everything we do. Our mission is to support every young person to become a well-rounded, confident adult with high aspirations for their future.

The Role

We are seeking a passionate and committed KS3 Nurture Teacher to join our dedicated team in Dorking. This is a rewarding opportunity for an educator who believes in the power of relationships, consistency and nurture to help students thrive both academically and emotionally.

You will work with small groups of KS3 students, delivering engaging and carefully planned lessons that support academic progress while also developing social skills, emotional regulation and confidence.

What We Offer

* Small class sizes of no more than 10 students

* A highly personalised curriculum tailored to students’ individual needs, abilities and interests

* Strong support from classroom assistants who work alongside teachers to support students’ academic, social and developmental needs

* A collaborative, supportive staff team who share a commitment to positive outcomes for young people with SEMH needs

* The opportunity to make a genuine, lasting difference in students’ lives

Key Responsibilities

* Plan and deliver engaging KS3 lessons within a nurture-based approach

* Create a safe, structured and supportive learning environment

* Support students’ social, emotional and mental health needs alongside their academic development

* Work closely with support staff, parents and external professionals

* Contribute to EHCP targets, reviews and personalised learning plans

The Ideal Candidate

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

* Experience of teaching KS3 students (experience in SEMH or special education is desirable but not essential)

* A calm, patient and resilient approach

* Strong behaviour management skills grounded in nurture and understanding

* A genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable young people to achieve their potential

Why Join Us?

At Unified Academy, lessons are purposeful, engaging and built around the needs of our students. Our staff are supported to teach creatively and build meaningful relationships that help students re-engage with learning and develop the skills they need for life beyond school.

If you are an enthusiastic teacher who wants to make a real impact in a specialist setting, we would love to hear from you.
