Vacancy informationOur client is looking for a skilled Lead Document Controller to oversee and manage document control activities for a major engineering project within the energy infrastructure sector. This is a senior‑level, English‑speaking position based at their office in South‑West of the Netherlands, where you will operate as both a team leader and a hands‑on contributor.
As Lead Document Controller, you will be responsible for coordinating a team of 5–8 document control professionals (ultimately 6–7 FTE), ensuring the seamless management and flow of technical documentation across a multidisciplinary engineering environment. You will play a key role in structuring, monitoring, and safeguarding the quality and consistency of documentation across all project phases.
This is a highly collaborative role, requiring daily interaction with engineering, planning, and project management teams. You’ll be embedded in a fast‑paced project environment that spans approximately 200,000 man‑hours and involves infrastructure development in the German Wadden Sea area—comparable in scale to a 2.2 GW project. The project’s complexity demands a structured, detail‑oriented leader who thrives in managing high volumes of documentation while balancing team coordination and stakeholder communication.
Whatdo you need
- Solid engineering background with a clear understanding of technical workflows
- Proven experience in a lead‑level Document Control role within large engineering projects
- Ability to lead, coordinate, and motivate a team of 5–8 Document Controllers
- Strong hands‑on expertise in managing large volumes of technical documentation
- High level of comfort working with various document control tools and systems
- Excellent communication and organizational skills; confident in stakeholder engagement
- Fluent in English; experience in international project settings preferred
- Willingness to work primarily onsite in Papendrecht (hybrid: max. 1 day/week remote)
