Role SummaryThe Purbeck Ward team are known for their welcoming nature, enthusiastic and hardworking approach to ensure every patient receives the care they need and deserve. The ward is a GOLD accredited trauma unit, specialising in acute orthopaedic trauma and working within the wider scope of the Wessex trauma network. The fast‑paced and unpredictable nature of trauma nursing is celebrated as a team, providing a friendly, supportive environment that achieves good patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-quality safe nursing care within a trauma unit and for orthopaedic and elective procedures.
- Demonstrate an ability to work well as part of a multidisciplinary team and independently, adapting to frequently changing situations.
- Implement evidence‑based best practice with a patient‑experience focus.
- Plan and manage timely discharge to promote effective utilisation of beds.
- Support the completion of Level 1 Adult Ward Nursing for Major Trauma Patient competencies, TCAR training and orthopaedic nursing study days.
- Registered Nurse with current UK professional registration.
- Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).
- Experience working in an acute hospital setting, preferably orthopaedic or trauma.
- Demonstrate understanding of accountability, confidentiality and professional nursing issues.
- Strong interpersonal skills – maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, patients and visitors.
- Clear organisational and time‑management skills; ability to prioritise workload.
- Experience in surgical nursing.
- Understanding of clinical governance and its requirements.
- Familiarity with the Wessex Trauma Network and related training.
- Knowledge of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act requirements for background checks.

- Contract: Permanent – full‑time or part‑time
- Pay: £31,049 to £37,796 per annum (Band
5) - Sponsorship: Eligible for Skilled Worker route (subject to UKVI eligibility criteria)
