Experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon - No OOH

The fantastic team at Arundell Vets in Doncaster is looking for an experienced veterinary surgeon to join the team working a four-day week (part time applicants considered) with no out of hours/bank holidays and approx. 1:8 Saturday mornings with TOIL.

We are a friendly and supportive team of 8 vets with a wide range of interests including medicine, surgery and diagnostic imaging certificate holders so there’s always someone there to give you support and encourage your development. We're looking for someone who has completed their VetGDP and is confident performing routine surgeries.

We have two sites, one of which is a hospital and our branch which we have recently moved in to following a full refurbishment. We use Vets Now for our out of hours, weekends and bank holidays, and they come in to our main hospital site overnight so our in patients can stay in one place and be looked after by their dedicated team.

The specifics of the role can be catered towards your strengths and interests:

  • We perform a wide range of surgeries including cruciate and patella surgery, laparoscopic procedures, and BOAS surgery, so if you’re interested in developing your surgical skills then this role would be ideal for you.
  • We also have a wide range of diagnostic equipment (including Imagyst, ultrasound, dental radiography, endoscopy and i-STAT) so if medicine is your area of interest, then you’ll be happy to know we are able to work up the vast majority of cases in house and have dedicated hospital shifts which are a mix of caring for in patients and seeing emergency cases, as well as usual consulting and operating days.
  • Or if you like a little bit of everything, that’s OK too, our rota is catered towards what each individual likes to do.

The salary is up to £80,000, dependent on experience (additional certificates or experience may negotiate a higher salary bracket) and well-behaved pets are very welcome to come to work with you.

Other benefits include (pro rata):

  • 4-day week for our full time vets but part time applicants definitely considered
  • 1 in 8 (approx.) Saturday mornings (8-1230pm) with TOIL during the week
  • Paid RCVS, VDS and one other membership fees
  • Certificates and other CPD encouraged and funded
  • 5 weeks holiday and no bank holidays to work, and the opportunity to buy and sell holiday
  • Enhanced sickness, maternity, paternity, parental leave, surrogacy and adoption pay
