Urology Nurse Practitioner

We are looking for a nurse to work within the Urology Outpatient Department across sites at Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Bassetlaw Hospital, providing nurse-led clinics and supporting specialist consultant clinics. The post holder will either have, or develop, specialist skills in urology and act as a clinical expert to deliver best practice and high-quality patient care.

You will assist the Lead Urology Nurse in achieving Trust and Directorate objectives and deputise for the Lead Nurse as required. The post holder will also provide leadership to the wider team, ensuring that safe, effective, and patient-centered care is embedded into everyday practice within the clinical area.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will provide expert nursing advice for care of patients with continence problems. Establish therapeutic and appropriate strategies for nursing management and control of symptoms/conditions to improve patient outcomes.

Actively run nurse-led continence assessment clinics and prostate follow-up clinics for non-cancer patients, with the dissemination and discussion of results with the patient and the multi-disciplinary team.

Person Specification Knowledge & Experience
  • Significant post registration experience at band 5 or above in urology
  • Experience of multi-professional working
  • Trust SET training programme (if applicable)
  • Understanding of principles of urological surgery
  • Clinical experience in the specific role
  • Experience running and managing nurse led-clinics independently
Qualifications & Training
  • Mentorship in practice or equivalent qualification
  • Degree or working towards
  • Evidence of CPD specific to urology
