Mechanical Shift Technician

Overview

The Mechanical Shift Technician will work a 12‑hour shift (2 days, 2 nights & 4 off) over an 8‑week rolling rota. Hours are 6:00 am to 6:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 6:00 am. The role is based in Doncaster at a heavy industrial processing plant, which may involve dust and machinery – it is not a spotless environment.

• Operate within a multi‑skilled team to perform day‑to‑day maintenance of all industrial plant and machinery.
• Install and maintain new and existing equipment, ensuring minimal production disruption.
• Carry out hands‑on mechanical engineering routines in accordance with planned preventive maintenance programmes and emergency breakdowns.
• Conduct risk assessments and comply with all health and safety procedures.
• Assist other mechanical/operational departments when required.

• Time‑served apprenticeship or recognised Mechanical Engineering certification/qualification.
• Fabrication skills and previous experience within a process/factory environment.
• Refrigeration experience is advantageous.
• Ability to work independently, be proactive, and produce appropriate solutions to minimise disruption.
• Calm and methodical approach, ability to work under pressure and within time constraints.

• Salary: £49,500 p/a.
• Average 42hrs per week; 6 am‑6 pm & 6 pm‑6 am shift pattern.
