Business Manager - Specialist Education College
Location: Doncaster
Contract: Permanent, full-time
We are working with a growing specialist education provider in Doncaster to recruit a Business Manager at a key point in their development.
This is a newly created role, introduced to support planned growth and to strengthen the operational, administrative and compliance foundations of the college. The setting is small, friendly and highly connected, with strong relationships between staff and students, and ambitious plans for expansion over the next few years.
The RoleAs Business Manager, you will be the operational backbone of the college and a trusted right-hand support to the Director of Education and senior leadership team. Your focus will be on ensuring that systems, processes and compliance arrangements are robust, efficient and scalable as the college grows.
Key responsibilities include:- Overseeing business administration and developing effective systems and processes
- Ensuring compliance with Department for Education requirements
- Supporting finance processes, budgets and management information
- Managing premises, health & safety and related compliance
- Attendance monitoring and data oversight
- Providing day-to-day HR operational support (processes, data and coordination rather than strategic HR)
- Using data, spreadsheets and management information systems to support decision-making
This role would suit an experienced Business Manager, Business Officer or similar professional from a school or college background who enjoys building structure, improving systems and working closely with senior leaders.
You will have:
- Experience working in a school or college environment
- A strong understanding of education administration and compliance
- Confidence across finance, premises, health & safety, attendance and HR operational processes
- Strong IT skills and the ability to work confidently with data and spreadsheets
- A solution-focused, organised and proactive approach
- SEND-specific experience is not essential, but an understanding of SEND within a school is expected.
- Salary of £41,271 per annum, negotiable depending on experience
- 22 days annual leave plus statutory holidays, increasing with service (up to a maximum of 40 days including statutory holidays)
