Job Summary
Substance Misuse Nurse – HMP Moorland, a men’s category C prison and young offender institution located in South Yorkshire.
Free parking at all sites, low staff turnover, wellbeing days, strong relationships and partnerships, radio training and all other areas across the PPG pathway.
Hours37.5 hours per week. 3 shifts 07:30‑17:30 and 1 shift 07:30‑17:00, including 1 weekend incorporated in the shift pattern.
SalaryFull‑time. Annual salary up to £49,174 per annum (FTE) depending on experience.

- Work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team, prioritising patient care and developing individualised packages of care through comprehensive assessment and recovery planning.
- Deliver a range of treatment options including clinical and psychosocial interventions in both group and one‑to‑one settings with recovery at the centre of the healthcare wellbeing model.
- Carry out comprehensive assessments, initiate and review individual recovery plans, and communicate the full range of treatment options available to service users.
- Monitor therapeutic responses to medication, potential side effects and liaise with prescribers.
- Support group work delivery and liaise with prescribers and Recovery Practitioners on clinical interventions; occasionally support dispensing.
- Demonstrate an understanding and commitment to recovery and a people‑centred approach.
- Registered nurse with current NMC registration.
- Registered mental health practitioner (NMP) preferred.
- Experience working within substance misuse.
- Evidence of continued professional development (CPD).
- RCGP Part 1 in Substance Misuse or willingness to undertake.
- Experience with opiate‑dependent patients.
- Sound clinical substance misuse knowledge.
- Experience in hospital, community or prison setting is advantageous.
- Legal right to work in the UK.
- Willingness to undergo additional vetting and security checks.
Post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975;
Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service is required to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Applicants must have current UK professional registration.
