Our Audiology Service supports patients across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw. Due to this, we operate out of 5 clinical locations so there is an expectation that the applicants are able to move localities. This will be rostered and only changed at short-notice during periods of short notice leave within the team
We are completing an audiology improvement programme for our audiology service. We have seen significant investment in our clinical spaces, electronic systems, and medical equipment. We pride ourselves on these developments and this is why it's a great time to join our team.
You will be expected to carry out all aspects of clinical audiology using a range of test equipment and with a high degree of clinical autonomy. The audiologist will be expected to deal with sensitive and emotive subjects with empathy and have good counselling skills. Overcoming communication and motivational barriers to treatment with non-routine patients in all areas of audiology.
At this level, the audiologist should have acquired organisational and communication skills and be able to work autonomously within the team.
Applicants should hold the relevant qualifications and be registered with the AHCS or be eligible to register immediately.
In addition to these duties, the audiologist must maintain Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
We are recruiting two Audiologists to join our growing service. Flexibility is required, as clinical hours are between 8 am and 6 pm.
Main duties of the jobThe Band 5 Audiologist will be expected to perform without direct supervision:
- Selection, fitting, or exchange of a full range of hearing aids for adults, including those with additional disabilities and some with sensory impairments.
- Aural rehabilitation for patients who have additional special needs beyond hearing loss, including children
- To undertake a battery of audiometric tests to assist in the differential diagnosis of auditory dysfunction.
- Tests on young children and assistance in auditory rehabilitation programmes
- Assistance with the evaluation and management of tinnitus.
- Assistance with routine tests of vestibular function.
- Assistance with routine objective test procedures, including ERA.
- Assistance with selection, fitting or exchange of non-standard hearing aids for children.
- Any other duties as may be discussed and agreed upon with the line manager.
- To maintain your own professional standards through registration and CPD, by attending relevant study sessions, maintaining a professional portfolio for assessment, and reporting back to staff in the department.
