Overview

37.5 hours per week (24-hour shift pattern). As part of unplanned mental health services in Doncaster, join Doncaster Crisis Team. The role involves triage, assessment and intervention for service users in crisis, including telephone, home visits and assessments in A&E. We are recruiting a permanent Band 6 qualified practitioner who is enthusiastic and motivated to work with individuals in crisis within the community, delivering a caring and safe service.

Responsibilities
  • Triaget and assess service users in crisis and provide intervention as required
  • Work across telephone, home visits and A&E settings
  • Collaborate with families to support their understanding of crisis management
  • Work with partner organisations, third sector and peer support services with transparency and openness
  • Contribute to changes in community working age model and take opportunities to lead initiatives

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (current professional registration)
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Risk assessment and management training
  • Safeguarding Level 3
  • Mentorship qualification
Desirable

  • Supervision training
Experience
  • Extensive experience in mental health settings
  • Experience of case managing people presenting in mental health crisis
  • Leading risk assessment and risk management planning
  • Co-producing care/crisis plans with clients and families
  • Multi-agency working across local authorities, voluntary sector and peer support
  • Involving service users and carers in care delivery
Desirable
  • Experience of working within a crisis service
  • Experience of acute inpatient settings
  • Service improvement work with service users and carers

Knowledge
  • Excellent knowledge of mental illness, symptoms and assessment
  • Knowledge of evidence-based treatments and therapies for crisis care
  • Knowledge of harm minimisation and management of self-harm
  • Understanding of trauma and recovery-oriented care
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and current policy/guidance
  • Knowledge of community resources (statutory and non-statutory) and recovery principles
