Perinatal Practitioner

The Doncaster Perinatal Mental Health Service is expanding and there is a unique opportunity to join the team in a new role to support in developing the service to strive to deliver the commitments set out in the NHS Long Term plan.

We are in the privileged position to work with families at a highly personal yet crucial time in their lives and it is essential to have a respectful and non-judgemental attitude to engage mothers, their infants and families.

The Perinatal Mental Health Service provides specialist community care for women who are at risk of development, relapse or recurrence of a serious mental health problem. We are looking for an enthusiastic practitioner who will participate and contribute to achieving excellent quality of care for our patients. In return for this commitment, we will support and develop your potential and skills through regular supervision and development in this busy role within our friendly Trust.

The successful candidate will work in conjunction with the Perinatal Clinical Lead, Medical Personnel, and wider team to develop and deliver safe and effective services, in accordance with key national targets, clinical standards, service priorities and key performance indicators. To work in partnership with commissioners and other partner agencies to provide Perinatal Mental Health Services that achieve the best possible outcomes for service users.

Main

duties of the job
  • The perinatal mental health service provide specialist community care for women who are at risk of development, relapse or recurrence of a serious mental health problem.
  • The role of the Perinatal Practitioner will be to undertake comprehensive evidence based assessments and formulation of treatment plans and address Perinatal Service enquiries providing practical advice and support.
  • To work in conjunction with the Perinatal Clinical Lead and Medical Personnel to develop and deliver safe and effective services, in accordance with key national targets, clinical standards, service priorities and key performance indicators.
  • To work in partnership with commissioners and other partner agencies to provide Perinatal Services that achieve the best possible outcomes for service users.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Professional Qualification (Degree or equivalent)
  • Evidence of relevant core profession i.e., RMN, Social Worker, OT and registration with relevant professional body
  • Mentorship in Practice/ENB 998 or equivalent (or willingness to complete)
  • Post graduate education specifically relating to client group (Post basic qualification in community care/ research awareness/ management)
  • Non‑medical prescribing
  • Formal therapies qualification, ie CBT or similar
Experience
  • Experience of working in a mental health setting, including working with patients…
