Ward Clerk - Trauma and Orthopaedics

We are looking to recruit a part‑time ward clerk to our Trauma and Orthopaedics team.
Responsibilities- Greeting patients and visitors to wards and departments and allowing access via any electronic entry system.
- Ensuring that all overseas visitors are identified and registered on CAMIS.
- Answering the ward/reception telephone promptly, taking messages and redirecting calls as necessary.
- Data entry for all attendances outside clinic or telephone consultations.
- Using the CaMIS Tracker system to locate, request, and collect patient case notes for planned and unplanned admissions.
- Maintaining an up‑to‑date location status for patient case notes throughout the patient's stay.
- Opening and distributing ward/department mail and redirecting post where necessary.
- Collecting patient notes from case‑note release or hospital shuttle buses.
- Using clinical IT systems to input and extract patient and nursing information.
- General photocopying, scanning and copying of case notes when requested, for patient transfers to other hospitals.
- Purchasing and ordering adequate stationery stock levels.
- Attending all mandatory training in accordance with Trust policy.
- Participating in the Trust’s Annual Performance Development Appraisal and Review.
- Being aware of the Trust’s policies, procedures and disciplinary rules.
- Undertaking any other duties allocated by the Ward/Admin Manager or Team Leader from time to time.

Person Specification Qualifications & Training- GCSE English Language at Grade C or above, or equivalent qualification or relevant experience
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word
- Experience using a large mainframe database/hospital CaMIS System
- Experience working within a healthcare environment
- Experience using Medisec software
- Sensitive and professional
- Able to work within a team environment
- Maintain confidentiality at all times in respect of the Data Protection Act (1998)
- Able to collaborate with team members to ensure workload is distributed effectively
- Flexible approach to accommodate changing demands effectively
- Accurate and careful working to ensure high standard of work produced
