Night Shift Engineer

We're working with a leading manufacturing organisation in Doncaster that's looking for an experienced Night Shift Engineer to join their high-performing Engineering team.

About the Role

As a Night Shift Engineer, you'll play a vital role in ensuring uninterrupted operations during night hours. You'll be responsible for effective maintenance, rapid fault-finding, and continuous improvement across the site, working with a skilled and supportive team that's committed to the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance. This is a permanent night shift role, offering stability, autonomy, and opportunities for overtime and development.

What You'll Be Doing

Carry out planned preventative maintenance and respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns during night shifts.
Diagnose faults and implement long-term solutions to minimise downtime.
Prioritise and manage your workload to meet operational KPIs and production demands.
Work independently while maintaining strong communication with day-shift teams for effective handovers.
Ensure all engineering activities comply with Health & Safety and Food Safety standards.
Supervise contractors when required and maintain excellent housekeeping standards.
Monitor spare parts usage and ensure machinery operates to site and manufacturer standards.
Liaise with Operations, Technical, Quality, and other departments to support site performance.

About You

Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
At least 2 years' hands-on experience in electrical or mechanical maintenance (or equivalent qualifications).
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Strong fault-finding, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
Comfortable working autonomously on nights, with a proactive and safety-first approach.
Confident communicator, able to challenge constructively when required.

Experience with in food manufacturing and familiarity with Pirana CMMS are desirable.
