Position: Lecturer In Foundation Learning (SEND)

The vacancy

Are you passionate about supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities to achieve their full potential? We are looking for a dedicated and inspiring Lecturer to join our Foundation Learning (SEND) Department at Doncaster College. In this rewarding role, you will deliver high‑quality teaching, provide pastoral support to a caseload of students, and contribute to an inclusive, supportive learning environment.

Essential Criteria
  • A relevant SEND‑related qualification at Level 3 or above.
  • A recognised teaching qualification, or willingness to work towards one.
  • Minimum Level 2 English and Maths.
  • Experience of working with SEND learners and embedding Functional Skills.
  • Strong classroom management skills with the ability to motivate learners.
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high‑quality teaching across Foundation Learning programmes within the SEND Department.
  • Act as course tutor, providing ongoing pastoral support and monitoring student progress.
  • Embed English, Maths, Equality & Diversity and British Values in all teaching.
  • Maintain accurate records including e‑registers, schemes of work, assessment information and progress tracking.
  • Attend and contribute to EHCP meetings and work with colleagues, parents/carers, and support services.
  • Make effective use of learning technologies and innovative teaching approaches.
  • Support recruitment activities such as Open Days and promotional events.
  • Participate in curriculum development and continuous quality improvement.
  • Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and a positive, inclusive learning environment.
