Clean Harbors in Dolton, IL is seeking a Field Service Foreman Emergency Response to join our safety‑conscious team. This position will be responsible for the direct supervision of the Field Technicians. Forepersons and Technicians will perform emergency response (emergency spill cleanup), hazardous waste cleanup, site‑remediation (tank and pit cleaning), equipment decontamination, and handling of hazardous materials.

Position Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years in Environmental Services and at least 1 year leading a crew
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Heavy‑equipment experience is a plus
  • Typical shift 8–10+ hours, with overtime after 40 hours
  • Availability for emergency response/project work that may require being out of town up to 2 weeks, with hotel and per diem provided
  • On‑call responsibilities every other week
Training

New hires are required to attend a two‑week Academy training out of state; all expenses are covered by Clean Harbors and the training is paid.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure health and safety are the number one goal by following policies and acting safely
  • Train and mentor Field Service Technicians
  • Execute projects/jobs within budget and on time
  • Enforce OSHA, EPA and H&S standards or regulations
  • Coordinate manpower, equipment and resources with the Coordinator
  • Manage large‑scale field service and emergency response projects when directed
  • Engage in strenuous physical labor, including lifting and pulling heavy objects
  • Operate light and heavy equipment, hand tools and powered industrial tools, and work with vibration‑producing tools
  • Wear and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators, skin and facial protection, and foot protection in multiple combinations
  • Work in various temperatures indoors and outdoors, all weather conditions
  • Work in atmospheres and locations with potential exposure to chemical and physical agents, some hazardous, toxic or corrosive
  • Work in potentially elevated noise levels, confined spaces, low‑clearance areas, ladders and scaffolding, and at elevations
  • Assist in field sampling activities and meter calibration
  • Climb ladders, scaffolding and move in/out of trucks, tanks and containers
  • Work extended periods (>8 hrs.)
  • Attend all compliance and safety update meetings
  • Inspect drums for container integrity and regulatory compliance
  • Safely load and unload hazardous and non‑hazardous waste
  • Conduct waste‑stream sampling and profiling as necessary
  • Complete associated paperwork (worksheets, vehicle inspections, equipment inspections, permits)
  • Follow all local, state and federal compliance regulations and rules
  • Safely operate vehicles per U.S. DOT and local requirements
  • Observe all corporate operating guidelines and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Be on call for emergency response on a rotating basis every other week
  • Handle site‑remediation, equipment decontamination and hazardous materials handling duties
  • May perform lead responsibilities
Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years in Environmental Services
  • Minimum of 1 year as crew lead
  • Previous experience in a physically intensive role
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Ability to travel for extended periods of time, overnight
  • Ability to be on‑call for emergency response
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Perform physical functions per job requirements
  • Successfully complete background check, drug test and physical exam
  • Meet OSHA’s Respiratory Protection standard (29 CFR 1910.34) facial‑hair requirements for respirator positions
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous heavy‑equipment experience (bobcats, excavators, etc.)
  • Previous environmental and/or industrial experience (site remediation, spill response, hydroblasting, vacuum truck, tank cleaning, refinery work)
  • Commercial driver license
