We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Equipment Operator to join our field operations. The ideal candidate will have verifiable experience operating heavy machinery in remote oilfield, pipeline, or offshore environments. You will be responsible for the safe operation, pre-use inspection, and basic field-level maintenance of heavy equipment to support drilling, production, and facility construction activities.
Key ResponsibilitiesSafely operate heavy equipment such as Crawler Cranes, Bulldozers, Excavators, Front-End Loaders, Rough Terrain Forklifts, and Vacuum Trucks.
Handle and position heavy loads (pipes, machinery, containers) during rig moving, rigging up/down, or general construction.
Operate equipment for site preparation, excavation, back filling, and road maintenance on lease roads or well sites.
When applicable, operate specialized oilfield equipment like High-Pressure Boilers, Cementing Units, or Pumping Units (requires specific training).
Conduct thorough pre-start and post-start inspections (fluid levels, tires/tracks, hydraulic systems, lights, and safety devices).
Strictly adhere to all HSE policies, including the Permit to Work system, safe driving practices, and exclusion zones.
Participate in daily safety meetings and hazard assessments (JSA/JHA).
Ensure loads are secured correctly and weights are within the machine's rated capacity.
Perform routine field-level maintenance (greasing, topping off fluids, filter changes) and report mechanical faults to maintenance supervisors immediately.
Keep the equipment cab and exterior clean and free of debris or combustible materials.
Assist mechanics during major repairs as needed.
Work closely with rig crews, supervisors, and ground personnel using standard hand signals or two-way radios.
Guide ground crews during lifting operations or complex manoeuvres.
Accurately complete operator logs, hour meter readings, and fuel usage reports.
- Valid Driver's License (Class 1/A or equivalent for heavy hauling is a major plus).
- NCCCO, ITI, or equivalent crane/equipment operator certification (Required for crane operation).
- H2S Alive, First Aid, and WHMIS (or equivalent regional safety tickets).
- Offshore survival certifications (BOSIET/HUET) are mandatory for offshore roles.
- Minimum 3–5 years of verifiable experience operating heavy equipment.
- Previous experience in Oil & Gas, Mining, or Heavy Civil Construction.
- Experience working on remote well sites, pipelines, or offshore rigs is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of equipment load charts and the ability to calculate lift capacities.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting minor issues in the field.
- Ability to read and understand grade stakes and site plans.
- Hazard Awareness:
Vigilant awareness of surroundings, overhead power lines, and underground utilities. - Spatial Awareness:
Ability to manoeuvre large machinery in tight spaces around high-value assets. - Physical Fitness:
Ability to climb onto large equipment, sit for long periods, and perform physical tasks as needed (e.g., connecting hoses). - Reliability:
Punctuality and a strong work ethic, especially during 12-hour shifts and remote rotations.
