Commercial HVAC Chiller Lead will oversee the maintenance and repair of commercial and industrial chiller systems. This role serves as the on-site technical expert for centrifugal, screw, scroll, and magnetic-bearing chillers, as well as chilled water systems, cooling towers, pumps, and related controls. The Chiller Lead provides hands-on troubleshooting and guides a team of technicians to ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient work.
Responsibilities- Lead and mentor HVAC technicians performing chiller and central plant work.
- Diagnose, repair, and optimize commercial chillers and hydronic systems.
- Oversee start-ups, commissioning, and preventive maintenance.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system issues.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, EPA regulations, and documentation requirements.
- Provide ongoing training, mentorship, coaching, and performance feedback to team members and the USG.
- Lead and participate in jobsite meetings, safety briefings, and coordination sessions with internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist with planning labor requirements and scheduling resources for installations and service calls.
- Ensure team compliance with company policies, jobsite rules, and safety protocols.
- Act as the primary on-site point of contact for technicians, subcontractors, and project management.
- Shall perform P.M. scheduled maintenance IAW manufacturer’s specifications and applicable codes and regulations.
- Shall maintain and adhere to applicable technical orders and good commercial practices for all maintenance actions to include requesting parts, receiving parts, installing, troubleshooting, testing, and repairing chiller equipment.
- Shall provide written reports after the completion of all inspections, maintenance, repairs, tests, and certifications of each system or component.
- Responsible for following a comprehensive quality and safety program in compliance with Vectrus, OSHA and United States Air Force (USAF) requirements.
- Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, sanitary, healthy, presentable, professional atmosphere, free of dust, clutter and trash in all working facilities and areas.
- Responsible for proper utilization and safeguarding of all government and contractor provided property (e.g., to include government facilities, equipment, and tools).
- Responsible for precise execution of company time reporting procedures and accurate completion of timesheet.

Certifications:
One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required. - High School Diploma required.
- Shall provide documentation (certificate, diploma, etc.) proving personnel attendance of in-residence training for HVAC/R systems.
- Shall provide an EPA 608 Universal Certification (Core, small appliances (Type I), high-pressure appliances (Type II), and low-pressure appliances (Type III)) is required.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with a current, valid U. S. Passport.
- Must have and maintain a valid U. S. SECRET Security Clearance prior to deployment.
- Must have a valid U.S. Driver’s License and able to drive with a manual transmission.
- Must be able to communicate in English.
- Must be able to pass a flight line access test and obtain flight line access badge.
- Must be able to pass employment and deployment qualification requirements that include psychological, medical, dental, drug testing, background checks, etc.
- Candidates must successfully complete both online and hands-on CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) defense training. Training includes the successful fit testing of DoD provided protective gear.
