Welding Inspector/Qa Technician
WELDING INSPECTOR / QA TECHNICIAN
Overall
Purpose:
To ensure all welding activities and related processes on the project comply with approved specifications, procedures, and international codes. You will be the frontline for quality control, preventing defects and ensuring the structural integrity of the project.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Procedure & Qualification Review: Review and approve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ) in accordance with ASME Section IX, API 1104, and AWS D1.1.
In-Process Inspection: Conduct daily surveillance and visual inspections (VT) of welding activities at the fabrication yard and site. Check pre-heat, interpass temperature, electrode control, and weld joint preparation.
Final Inspection & Documentation: Perform final visual inspection of completed welds. Maintain accurate and detailed records using Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), checklists, and daily reports.
NDT Coordination: Witness and review reports for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods, including Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle (MT), and Dye Penetrant (PT). A background in NDT Level II is a strong advantage.
Non-Conformance Management: Identify, document, and report any non-conforming work. Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and follow up on corrective actions until closure.
Client & Third-Party Liaison: Act as the primary quality contact for client representatives and third-party inspection authorities during audits and hold-point inspections.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to and promote a strict "Safety First" culture, following all project and company HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) policies at all times.
Mandatory Requirements:
Valid CSWIP 3.1 or AWS CWI certificate (must be presented).
Minimum 6 years of relevant industry experience.
Fluent in English (written and spoken).
Must pass a comprehensive medical examination (including chest X-ray and drug screening) for work permit processing.
Ability to work in a remote, hot climate and adhere to a 6-day work week schedule.
