Position Summary
The Contract and Commercial Director will lead and oversee all contract and commercial activities for large-scale construction projects. This role requires extensive experience managing contracts, procurement, and commercial strategies within a main contractor organization. The director will ensure all commercial operations align with company goals and regulatory requirements, driving profitability and risk management.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement commercial and contract strategies aligned with business objectives
- Lead contract negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Manage risk, claims, and dispute resolution processes
- Oversee budgeting, cost control, and forecasting for commercial activities
- Collaborate with project, legal, and finance teams to ensure compliance and optimal contract execution
- Lead and mentor the commercial team to ensure high performance and professional development
- Report regularly to senior management on commercial performance and project status
- Proven experience (10+ years) in contract and commercial management within the construction industry, preferably with a main contractor
- Experience working on large-scale projects and managing multi-disciplinary teams
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement, and commercial law
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to work in Syria and manage challenges associated with the region
