Air Safety Officer

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the coordination of all flight safety and quality activities in the Operations department.
Description:Role of Air Safety:
- Assist the Safety Systems Manager in identifying improvements and measures to strengthen safety in all areas of the operations department.
- Assist the Safety Systems Manager in the running of the Company Safety Management System and Safety Case, in all matters relating to the operations department.
- Advise the Safety Systems Manager and the Director Operations of any safety concerns.
- Custodian of the Company Reporting system to include all Accident / Air Safety / Incident / Voyage / Hazard and other reports filed including outstation bases.
- Initiate appropriate action in the event of an Accident / Incident.
- Conduct Accident and Incident Investigations in conjunction with the nominated investigation team.
- Analyze all reports and provide comments / recommendations and ensure follow-up and feedback.
- Assist in the implementation of safety recommendations.
- Oversight of the control and maintain statistical data of all reports.
- Assist in the conduct of Management of Change and Risk Assessments when required.
- Organize and conduct Operations Safety Meetings and the preparation of minutes for distribution.
- Disseminate safety information to all operations personnel through Company Notams / Advisories and Circulars.
- Assist periodic emergency response drills to check adequacy of the plan, readiness of the people involved and identification of areas requiring strengthening.
- Assist the Safety Systems Manager with the coordination of inspection of all helidecks and heliports.
- Provide details of restrictions applicable to landing sites and assist in the preparation of the Current Restrictions and Operations Instructions.
- Oversight initial and recurrent safety training for all operations personnel and the maintenance of these records.
- Coordinate with Operations for HLO and Helideck crew familiarization training for all Helidecks.
- Oversee and coordinate an FOD prevention program.
- Number of safety inspections held vs target number
- Number of safety improvements achieved.
- Number of safety meetings conducted
- Number of exercises / emergency drills conducted
SKILLS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Courses in all or at least five of the below:
- Safety Management Systems Course
- Human Factors Course
- Risk Management Course
- Crisis Management course
- Airside / Airdrome safety
- Lead Auditors Course
- Quality Management systems
- Aircraft Accident investigation course
- Qualified Instructor / Train the Trainer Course
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in similar field in SMS department
- Thorough knowledge of EASA and ICAO Annex 19 and ANNEX 13 regulations related to SMS and investigations techniques.
- ATPL with ratings for AW 139 / AW189 or similar experience in any other domain of Flight Operations
- Total Flying Experience 3000 HRS on helicopters .
