The Systems & Storage Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, operation, and optimisation of enterprise server and storage infrastructure across Syntys data centre facilities. The role requires deep technical expertise in Dell server technologies, enterprise storage systems, backup and disaster recovery solutions, and virtualisation platforms. The engineer acts as the highest level of technical escalation for systems and storage incidents, drives change management discipline, and ensures infrastructure aligns with hyperscaler audit requirements and industry best practices

• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise server infrastructure using Dell Power Edge platforms
• Manage server lifecycle including provisioning, configuration, patching, and decommissioning
• Implement and maintain VMware vSphere/ESXi virtualization environments
• Manage Microsoft Windows Server and Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu) operating systems
• Configure and optimize server hardware (BIOS, iDRAC, firmware management)
• Ensure server infrastructure supports 99.999% availability SLA requirements
• Implement server hardening and security baselines per CIS benchmarks

• Design and implement enterprise storage architecture (SAN, NAS, Object Storage)
• Manage Dell Power Store, Power Scale, and Unity storage platforms
• Configure and optimize Fibre Channel and iSCSI storage networks
• Implement storage tiering, deduplication, and compression strategies
• Manage storage capacity planning and growth forecasting
• Implement and maintain storage replication for disaster recovery
• Monitor storage performance and optimize IOPS/throughput

• Design and implement enterprise backup architecture and strategy
• Manage Dell Data Protection Suite / Avamar / Net Worker or equivalent solutions
• Configure and monitor backup jobs ensuring RPO/RTO compliance
• Perform regular backup validation and recovery testing
• Implement and maintain disaster recovery procedures and runbooks
• Manage tape libraries and off-site backup rotation
• Ensure backup compliance with retention policies and regulatory requirements
• Act as L3 escalation point for all systems and storage incidents (P1/P2/P3)
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and deliver RCA reports within defined timelines
• Drive corrective and preventive actions to closure with documented evidence
• Maintain Known Error Database (KEDB) with workarounds and permanent fixes
• Coordinate with vendors (Dell Pro Support, VMware GSS) for escalation and resolution

• Prepare and submit RFCs (Request for Change) with complete documentation
• Develop detailed MOPs (Method of Procedures) for systems and storage changes
• Participate in CAB (Change Advisory Board) meetings presenting technical changes
• Execute approved changes with pre/post validation and rollback procedures
• Maintain change calendar ensuring no conflicts with maintenance windows
• Target ≥85% first-pass CAB approval rate through quality documentation
• Ensure zero change-induced incidents through rigorous testing
• Develop and maintain systems/storage architecture documentation (HLD, LLD)
• Design infrastructure solutions for customer onboarding and capacity expansion
• Evaluate new technologies and make recommendations for improvement
• Participate in design reviews ensuring alignment with standards
• Support customer technical requirements and pre-sales activities
