The RoleWe are seeking a Senior Consultant - Sustainability Data Scientist passionate about sustainability and analytics. In this role, you will design and implement AI‑powered, data‑driven solutions that enable clients to make informed decisions on climate risk, sustainability/ESG performance, and sustainable transformation. You will work at the intersection of data science, business strategy, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities- Data Engineering & Management:
Collect, clean, and structure large datasets from diverse sources (e.g. internal systems, external APIs, ESG databases). - Advanced Analytics & Modelling:
Apply statistical methods, machine learning, and predictive modelling to extract actionable insights. - Coding & Automation:
Develop robust scripts and workflows using Python, R, SQL, and other languages for data processing and analysis. - Visualization & Dashboarding:
Build interactive dashboards and visualisations using tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Plotly) to communicate insights effectively. - Insight Generation:
Translate complex data and AI outputs into clear recommendations for sustainability strategies, risk mitigation, and performance improvement. - Collaboration:
Work closely with consultants and clients to integrate analytics into transformation programmes and decision‑making processes.
- Strong programming skills in Python (pandas, Num Py, scikit‑learn), plus familiarity with R, SQL, and data visualisation libraries.
- Experience with data architecture, ETL processes, and cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Ability to design predictive models and interpret outputs for business impact.
- Excellent communication skills to present technical insights to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Commercial awareness and ability to link analytics and AI to business value.
- Passion for sustainability topics.
- Demonstrable evidence of data science in the following would be viewed favourably:
- Utilisation of physical climate models (e.g. data extraction from GCMs, RCMs, statistical downscaling).
- Value chain GHG emissions, decarbonisation analysis.
- Natural resource consumption, production and circulatory.
- Utilisation of IFRS S1 and S2, GRI, TNFD (amongst others) frameworks.
- At a minimum, degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or Statistics.
- Experience or qualifications in a sustainability‑related field would be highly advantageous.
- 2–6 years of experience in data analytics or data science roles, ideally within consulting or sustainability domains.
- Proven track record in building dashboards, performing advanced analytics, and delivering AI‑driven recommendations.
