Talent Scientist – Graduate Lead

Join us as a talent scientist focused on graduate hiring at Canonical, a remote‑first tech company that publishes Ubuntu and drives open source innovation.

Location

Remote position based in the EMEA region.

Overview

We are advancing our graduate hiring strategy to reach world‑class junior talent. The role builds partnerships with top universities and uses data science to drive the hiring process.

Responsibilities
  • Build partnerships with leading academic institutions to raise awareness of graduate opportunities.
  • Create a compelling proposition to attract top talent to Canonical.
  • Drive talent analytics and provide real‑time insight to the business to streamline hiring.
  • Conduct behavioral interviews and generate insights into motivations and behaviors.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders to deliver on hiring agenda and maintain consistent processes.
  • Provide data‑driven insights to support robust decision making.
  • Advise on employer brand and candidate experience.
  • Streamline hiring processes and tools for continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with external partners to maximize return on investment.
  • Champion diversity and inclusion, eliminating unconscious bias from hiring.
Qualifications
  • Exceptional academic background with bachelor’s or master’s in psychology or people‑based discipline.
  • Experience hiring in the technology industry, especially graduate hiring.
  • Strong analytical mindset and ability to create measurable outcomes using SQL.
  • Passion for scientific approaches to talent selection and predicting hiring outcomes.
  • Appreciation of psychometric assessments.
  • Experience conducting behavioral/competency interviews and training stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Greenhouse, Linked In, Superset, Thomas International/DISC assessments.
  • High level of personal organization and self‑drive in a remote setting.
  • Willingness to travel to company events 2–4 times a year, up to two weeks each.
