Responsibilities- Transfers & Boat Operations
- Every evening check the schedule for transfers and excursions for the following day. Be familiar with the details regarding the trips including number of guests, their names and any special requirements.
- Prepare boat setup according to trip requirements and operating procedures. Ensure sufficient cold towels, beverages and sea-sick bands for each trip; during rainy season ensure enough raincoats and towels on board.
- Review the checklist and ensure all items on the checklist are followed.
- Coordinate with the Launch Section Manager or coordinator if you or crew miss a meal while on a trip; arrange for the meal and ensure the cost aligns with management-approved pricing unless authorised by Launch Section Manager.
- Ensure the boat is clean, set up, and waiting on the guest jetty 30 minutes prior to each trip, with crew members. All team members must follow resort grooming and uniform standards.
- Aim to make all trips as comfortable as possible for guests while ensuring safety and catering to their needs.
- Boat Maintenance & Safety
- Follow maritime laws and regulations as set by the Ministry of Transport & Communication of the Republic of Maldives.
- Ensure Sea Worthy certificate is on board and that all requirements are followed.
- Carry your Captain’s License during all trips.
- Clean the boat and equipment; keep the boat in good working condition and report maintenance issues immediately. Follow up with the Launch Section Manager or Coordinator until resolution.
- Perform maintenance on the boat or engine with engineering department delegates and update the Launch Section Manager or Coordinator until resolved.
- Maintain and occasionally build anchor points and nautical navigation lights.
- Be responsible and take precautions to avoid risky incidents; ensure no petrol leaks, life jackets are available, and fire extinguishers are working.
- In inclement weather, assess whether trips can be made and inform the Launch Section Manager or Coordinator accordingly.
- Carry onboard the Boat Mobile phone at all times when on duty and ensure it is charged; keep the onboard radio in working condition.
- Always prioritize guest and crew safety and drive the boats accordingly.
- Communication
- Coordinate between Airport Hosts and Resort Operators for arrival/departure times and guest issues during trips.
- Communicate issues with boats or guests to the Launch Section Manager or Coordinator as required.
- Inform the Launch Section Manager or Supervisor when onboard items (beverages, seasick bands, packs, brochures) need replacement.
- Handle guest queries promptly and provide requested information.
- Resolve guest issues within your level of authority and write incident reports for any incidents during the trip.
- Gather guest feedback during trips and ensure proper follow-up actions by the department.
- Report any crew disciplinary issues to the Launch Section Manager or Coordinator.
- Team & Development
- Attend training programs as designated by the resort.
- Be motivated and committed, seek new skills to improve performance and guest service.
- Maintain a high level of team spirit and collaborate with colleagues across departments to achieve resort goals.
- Maintain a positive attitude and take initiative to resolve issues.
- General
- Be familiar with Transport Department, Front Office and Resort SOPs and ensure they are followed.
- Contribute ideas to enhance procedures in the Resort.
- Actively promote services and facilities to guests and stakeholders.
- Keep updated on changes to other areas of resort product and share information with your team.
- Maintain grooming and hygiene standards; comply with safety, environment, health, and hygiene policies and regulations.
- Carry out any other duties as directed by the department or Resort General Manager.
- Solid experience as Patrol Boat Skipper
- Oil Carrier Certification
- 2 to 5 years of experience in the same field
- Good English communication skills
