Job Purpose Summary

The incumbent will manage the entire research, analysis, market intelligence, co-ordination and finalisation of QNB economic reports, along with other monthly deliverables and other ad hoc requests. He will also facilitate the monitoring and reporting of economic developments in key international markets, competitive information, and strategic opportunities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities By Dimensions
  • Shareholder & Financial:
  • Manage the appropriate use of tools, data, statistical packages, and other research subscriptions necessary for the workflow of Group Economics.
  • Manage the preparation of input for business and budget forecasts (economic reports and macroeconomic forecasts across countries).
  • Implements KPI’s and best practices for Assistant Vice President Economic role.
  • Promote cost consciousness and efficiency and enhance productivity, to minimise cost, avoid waste, and optimise benefits for the bank.
  • Act within the limits of the powers delegated to the incumbent.
  • Customer (Internal & External):
  • Manage research products and investor relations activities associated with macroeconomics.
  • Manage all Group Economics publications and thought leadership activities, such as Country Economic Insight Reports, Weekly Economic Commentary, Qatar Monthly Monitor, Global Macro Updates, and ad-hoc bespoke reports.
  • Manage all day-to-day business activities, including the economic sections for the Investment Management Committee (IMC), Asset and Liability Management Committee (ALCO), Group Management Risk Committee (GMRC), and Ratings Report.
  • Maintain activities in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with internal departments/units to achieve improvements in turn-around time.
  • Internal (Processes, Products, Regulatory):
  • Support recruitment efforts, providing motivation and reinforcing high standards of performance, as well as adherence to the Bank’s values and mission.
  • Engage and provide coaching to managers and associates in all aspects of the generation of internal and external reports.
  • Learning & Knowledge:
  • Proactively identify areas for professional development of self and undertake development activities.
  • Seek out opportunities to remain current with all developments in professional field.
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor Degree in Finance, Economics, Market Research, or equivalent.
  • Master degree and Ph.D. in Economics from a top global university is an advantage.
  • At least 10 years of work experience within the economic department of a global financial institution with proven managerial oversight of small teams, with at least five years as an economist.
  • Experience in writing Macro Economic and Research reports.
