The RoleThe Pipeline Pre‑Commissioning Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and executing all site‑level pre‑commissioning activities on pipeline systems, including cleaning, gauging, flooding, hydrotesting, drying, nitrogen purging, inerting, and intelligent pigging operations. This role requires extensive hands‑on experience with high‑capacity nitrogen membrane systems and the coordination of multidisciplinary teams to safely deliver pipeline systems ready for commissioning.
Main Responsibilities & Key Result Areas- Supervise the full suite of pre‑commissioning activities, including:
- Pipeline flooding, cleaning, and gauging (FCG)
- Hydrostatic testing (HT)
- Dewatering and air drying
- Nitrogen purging/inerting using membrane and liquid nitrogen systems
- Intelligent pigging (ILI) and baseline tool runs
- Lead onshore and offshore execution at both launcher and receiver ends
- Ensure the proper setup and functional testing of large pre‑comm spreads, including chemical injection units, hydrotest pumps, filtration skids, nitrogen membranes, air dryers, and compressors
- Enforce pre‑commissioning procedures in line with DNVGL‑ST‑F101 and project‑specific specifications
- Direct field technicians in rig‑up, pig loading/launch, spread ramp‑up, pressure control, and pig receiving operations
- Monitor real‑time data on pig speed, pressure, chemical dosing, and water quality to ensure compliance with control points
- Manage safety during high‑pressure operations and coordinate Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), toolbox talks, and HSE audits
- Interface with project engineering teams, clients, and third‑party inspection teams
- Participate in contingency planning for events such as stuck pigs, pressure anomalies, or spread malfunctions
- 8+ years of pipeline pre‑commissioning experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role
- Proven track record running a large‑scale nitrogen membrane spread
- Strong technical knowledge of pigging operations, pipeline integrity testing, and seawater chemical treatment
- Experience working with high‑integrity clients (e.g., Qatargas, Saipem) and executing work under strict HSE systems
- Strong leadership, decision‑making, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work under pressure and in extreme environments (heat, offshore)
- Detail‑oriented with a commitment to procedural discipline and safety
- Capable of working rotational shifts (day/night) and across multicultural teams
