Purpose Of The PositionInstrumentation Engineer – working under the Instrumentation Manager in the Engineering Fixed Facilities Department at Saipem Qatar.
Responsibilities- Perform project technical tasks assigned by the Instrumentation Discipline Lead, including design, checking, layout definition, installation drawings, material definition, validation, testing, and engineering of process measuring sensors, process actuators, installation elements, and process safety elements.
- Interface and coordinate with other Project Team Specialists and Designers.
- Coordinate technical activities performed both in sourcing and outsourcing.
- Execute tasks within the area of responsibility, ensuring compliance with QA/QC and HSE requirements.
- Support discipline lead in defining man hours and cost estimates, prepare instrumentation elements, and prepare technical evaluations.
- Review client technical documentation and requirements; coordinate subcontracted engineering activities and control documents.
- Define engineering design basis and guidelines; prepare technical documentation for instrumentation element material and services requisitions.
- Provide technical support to the Project Team and optimize instrumentation design for minimal cost and complexity within contractual and safety requirements.
- Prepare technical specifications, data sheets, installation specifications, drawings, BOQs, and MTOs.
- Participate in P and , validate vendor control valves and safety valves sizing calculations, and validate vendor measurement element sizing calculations.
- Coordinate engineering activities and ensure 3‑D modelling design activities.
- Support construction team during construction and startup phases, including providing technical and engineering support.
- A – Development technology know‑how and commercial support.
- B – Feasibility.
- C – Bidding phase / commercial proposal development: prepare instrumentation elements, bulk material, quantities for cost and erection estimates; support discipline lead to define man‑hours and cost estimates.
- D – Project execution: review client technical documentation, coordinate subcontracted engineering activities, define design basis and guidelines, prepare technical specifications and documentation, support construction team, optimize instrumentation design, prepare instrumentation technical specifications, data sheets, installation specifications, drawings, BOQs, MTOs, participate in P and , validate vendor sizing calculations, coordinate engineering activities, ensure 3‑D modelling, participate in F.A.T. activities and vendor workshops.
- E – Construction and startup: provide technical and engineering support to construction team.
- Education:
Master’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering (preferable) or equivalent instrumentation engineering diploma. - Experience:
At least 5 years of EPC experience with instrumentation skills at expert level. - Languages:
Proficient in English.
- EPC experience.
- Company processes and procedures.
- Project management tools and methodologies.
- Technical support.
- Bidding methodologies, standard codes, and regulations.
- Design criteria and guidelines.
- Office package (including Microsoft Project).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Permanent contract – project‑based position.
