Telecom Technician – Oil & Gas Location

Qatar (Onshore / Offshore Oil & Gas Projects)

Project-based / Contract / Full-time

The Telecom Technician will be responsible for the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of telecommunications systems within Oil & Gas facilities in Qatar. The role ensures uninterrupted and reliable communication systems in compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and Qatari HSE regulations.

• Install, configure, test, and maintain telecom systems, including:
  • Fiber optic and copper cabling systems
  • PAGA (Public Address & General Alarm) systems
  • CCTV, access control, and security systems
  • Telephone systems (IP and analog)
  • Radio communication systems (VHF/UHF/TETRA)
  • Data networks and structured cabling
• Perform cable pulling, termination, splicing, labeling, and testing as per approved drawings and standards.
• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure system reliability.
• Troubleshoot faults and provide timely resolution to minimize downtime.
• Interpret telecom drawings, loop diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, testing, and system handover activities.
• Coordinate with telecom engineers, vendors, and other site disciplines.
• Ensure strict compliance with Qatar Oil & Gas HSE standards, PTW systems, and site regulations.
• Maintain accurate documentation including test reports, daily activity logs, and as-built drawings.

• Diploma or ITI in Telecommunications, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Telecom Technician in Oil & Gas projects in Qatar or the GCC
  .
• Proven experience with industrial telecom and ELV systems in hazardous areas.
• Knowledge of international and client standards (IEC, IEEE, ITU, ATEX, QCS where applicable).
• Experience in onshore and/or offshore environments is preferred.

• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
• Sound understanding of telecom safety and installation practices in Oil & Gas facilities.
• Proficient in the use of test equipment such as OTDR, power meters, and network testers.
• Good communication and reporting skills.

• Valid H2S certification
• BOSIET / HUET (for offshore roles)
• First Aid and Fire Fighting
• Vendor certifications (Cisco, Siemens, Avaya, Huawei – added advantage)

• Site-based role within Qatar Oil & Gas facilities.
• Willingness to work shifts, extended hours, and remote project locations as required.
