Inspection and Diagnostics:
- Conductvisual and hands-on inspections of all mechanical equipment (pumps,compressors, turbines, heat exchangers, etc.).
- Identifymechanical faults and areas of concern that require repairs or replacementduring the shutdown.
- Performdiagnostic checks using tools, gauges, and test equipment to assess thecondition of machinery.
Preventive and Corrective Maintenance:
- Performpreventive maintenance (PM) tasks, such as cleaning, lubricating, and checking for wear and tear on equipment.
- Carryout corrective maintenance (CM) to repair or replace faulty mechanical parts.
Troubleshooting:
- Identify the root cause of mechanical failures and troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Ensure that the shutdown activities address both immediate concerns and long-termreliability improvements.
Dismantling and Reassembly:
- Dismantleequipment as required for repair, modification, or replacement of parts.
- Reassemblemachinery according to manufacturer specifications and in accordance with safety protocols.
Safety Protocols:
- Adherestrictly to safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel during the shutdown.
- Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Reportunsafe conditions or actions immediately to supervisors.
Equipment Calibration:
- Calibratemechanical equipment and instruments to ensure optimal performance.
- Ensureall equipment operates within the specified parameters uponre-commissioning.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all work carried out during the shutdown.
- Provide detailed reports on the condition of machinery, repairs completed, and anychallenges encountered.
- Work closely with other departments like electrical, instrumentation, and control technicians to ensure all systems work together seamlessly.
- Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and other personnel to ensure shutdownactivities are completed on time and in budget.
Equipment Testing:
- After repairs, conduct functionality tests and ensure all systems are runningoptimally before the plant is restarted.
- Testand verify pressure, temperature, and mechanical load conditions.
Post-Shutdown
Activities:
- Ensure that all maintenance tasks are fully documented for future reference.
- Assist with equipment recommissioning and startup processes after the shutdown is completed.
SKILLS
Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in mechanical engineering, particularly in pumps,compressors, turbines, boilers, and other essential equipment used in oil andgas facilities.
Certification: Relevant certifications like API 510 (Pressure Vessel Inspector),
API
570 (Piping Inspector), or OSHA safety certifications may be required.
Experience: Several years of experience in amechanical role in the oil and gas sector, particularly in maintenance duringshutdowns.
Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
Physical Stamina: Ability to work inchallenging environments (e.g., offshore platforms, remote locations) and liftheavy parts or tools.
