Job Title: Driller– Offshore Jackup Rig
Location: Qatar (Offshore)
Rotation: 28/28 or 42/21
Reporting To: Senior Toolpusher / Rig Superintendent
Direct Reports: Assistant Drillers, Floormen, Roustabouts
Job Purpose
The Driller is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the drilling equipment and machinery on an offshore jackup rig. This role ensures drilling operations are conducted in compliance with Qatar Energy, Shell, and ADNOC standards while leading the drill crew to achieve operational targets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Drilling Operations
• Operate and monitor drilling equipment (topdrive, drawworks, BOP, mud pumps).
• Execute drilling programs as per client (e.g., Qatar Energy, GDI) and engineering plans.
• Supervise well control measures (IWCF Level 4 certified).
2. Safety & Compliance
• Conduct pre‑tour safety meetings and emergency drills (kick drills, fire drills).
• Ensure BOP and well control equipment are tested and maintained per API standards.
3. Crew Supervision
• Lead Assistant Drillers, Floormen, and Roustabouts during drilling operations.
• Train and mentor junior crew members on rig procedures and safety protocols.
• Maintain shift logs and report incidents to the Toolpusher.
4. Equipment & Maintenance
• Monitor rig machinery performance (identify malfunctions, report to mechanics).
• Assist in preventive maintenance (lubrication, inspections).
• Ensure correct handling of tubulars (drillpipe, casing, collars).
5. Reporting
• Document equipment issues and safety observations.
Qualifications & Experience
•
Education:
High school diploma (minimum); technical certification in drilling preferred.
•
Certifications:
o IWCF Well Control Level 4 (required).
o OPITO/BOSIET + HUET (mandatory for Qatar offshore).
o H2S Awareness & Confined Space Entry.
o 8+ years in offshore drilling (5+ years as Driller).
o Jackup rig experience (preferred: GDI, Shelf Drilling, ADESrigs in Qatar).
o Familiarity with Qatar Energy drilling standards (e.g., North Field projects).
Technical Skills
• Proficient in drilling software (e.g., Rig Pulse, Well View).
• Strong knowledge of drilling fluids, casing running, and directional drilling.
• Ability to interpret drilling reports and well schematics.
• Leadership:
Directs crew under high‑pressure situations (e.g., wellkicks).
• Attention to Detail:
Ensures precise execution of drilling plans.
• Communication:
Clear instructions to ADs and rig crew.
Salary: QAR 18,000–25,000/month (based on experience).
Overtime: 1.5x base rate for extra hours.
