Pediatric Dentist

JOB SUMMARY

The Pediatric Dentist will be expected to provide excellent care for patients (including but not limited to Outpatient setting, ongoing care on inpatient units, inpatient consultations, and emergency call coverage, surgical care) and families as prescribed in the patient care and facility standards set down by Sidra Medicine.

The Pediatric dentist is expected to participate in patient rounds, multidisciplinary clinics, departmental meetings, and in individual or team research and quality improvement projects.

The Pediatric dentist is expected to be involved in teaching residents, fellows, and other members of the staff, in addition may have to be involved with Weill Cornell Medical College – Qatar when needed to provide teaching support.

• Provides excellent clinical and surgical care.
• Covers emergency and call duties as determined by the Division Chief
• Works collaboratively with Weill Cornell Medical College – Qatar to provide teaching support
• Works in a congenial, supportive, collaborative, equitable, and progressive environment.
• Works collaboratively with other physicians and all other division staff to ensure that cohesive, cross functional teams are developed and maintained.
• Promotes mentorship and academic career development for junior team members.
• Participates in clinical and/or basic science research projects
• Actively participates in graduate medical education and in education for nursing, and technical staff
• Communicate effectively, consistently, and in a timely manner with colleagues and other staff members
• Keeps excellent and complete electronic medical records
• Participate actively in departmental meetings, retreats, journal clubs, and other agendas
• Performs departmental duties as requested by the Division Chief

• Provides Dental care for patients. This includes clinical and outpatient consultations, and operative procedures for routine, urgent and emergency care.
• Develops, runs, and maintains multi-disciplinary teams required for optimal care
• Provides timely, comprehensive and clearly communicated clinical documentation.
• Prescribe medications as necessary.
• Serves on institutional committees.
• Educate patients and parents of patients on maintaining proper oral health.
• Provides clinical services as required to maintain, as much as possible, continuous coverage for the population, including on call duty when required.
• Participate in medical research/academic projects for the Division of Dentistry. This includes the participation in joint programs, collaborations and primary projects of the Division, under the overall direction of the Chief of Dentistry.
• Practices with an appreciation for the concept of lifelong learning, striving to find ways to improve the delivery of care and the efficient use of available resources
• Seek ways to bring beneficial innovation into his/her work
• Is accessible and available to referring physicians and allied health care providers.
• Works cooperatively with other members of department to ensure that a high standard of patient care services is maintained.
• Facilitates patient access to medical care by recommending appropriate referrals to other health care providers in accordance with policies and regulations of the facility.
• Undertakes appraisals of staff as directed.
• Participates in mandatory training and actively practices continual professional development in alignment with Sidra’s professional development programs to ensure maintenance of professional licensure/accreditation.
• Develops and/or delivers training programs to new employees on equipment and procedures in the area of operations in alignment with the departments and Sidra’s training objectives and plans
• Acts as an educational resource for the division and contributes to the education of patients, staff and physicians and other stakeholders as required and as requested by the Division Chief
• Provides support and relief for other surgeons as required.
• Participates in community outreach programs and initiatives undertaken by Sidra

Post graduate specialization in Pediatric Dentistry from well recognized college

2+ years of post-board certification experience
