This on‑site position includes a Monday‑Thursday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM schedule with Friday 8:00 AM – Noon, with no major holidays, on‑call, or weekends.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
  • Assess health status by interviewing patients, collecting and recording nursing assessment and interventions.
  • Review and report results of health status assessment, laboratory, radiographic, and psychosocial data to the provider, taking appropriate action based on orders.
  • Provide teaching and psychosocial support to patients and families.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Prepare and administer therapies under physician supervision, including all medications and blood products with correct dosage, route, time, and technique.
  • Ensure pre‑authorization and consent forms are obtained prior to therapy administration where applicable.
  • Facilitate dose modification assessments and consult physician for dosage changes and symptom management.
  • Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and maintain central line devices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatment, applying reimbursement procedures and charge capture.
  • Maintain a clean work environment, restock supplies, and follow OSHA guidelines for cytotoxic agents and biohazardous waste.
  • Manage patient medication refill requests and coordinate with pharmacy.
  • Assist physicians with exams and procedures and maintain efficient patient flow.
  • Facilitate and schedule consultations, pre‑testing, diagnostic tests, referrals, and future appointments.
  • Triage patient phone calls and coordinate services related to patient care.
  • Assist patients in locating community resources.
  • Assist the clinical research team and act as a resource to LPN/LVN and medical assistants.
  • Provide nursing coverage for satellite offices as needed.
  • Participate in professional development activities and keep current knowledge of oncology nursing.
  • Program portable infusion pumps for continuous drug delivery and train patients or caregivers on home use.
  • Maintain licensure, continuing education, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Specialty Specific Responsibilities (if applicable)
  • Transplant RNs: provide care from initial contact through high‑dose chemotherapy, stem cell rescue, and post‑rescue follow‑up; manage related symptoms and report data to registries.
  • Primary Nurses assigned to a Physician: manage medication refill requests, advocate for patients, facilitate referrals, serve as patient liaison, and provide infusion room nursing coverage.
Supervisory Responsibilities

None.

Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited professional nursing program; BSN preferred.
  • RN state license with current registration in the practicing state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Maintain continuing education requirements.
  • 0‑3 years of nursing experience, preferably including at least one year in oncology.
Physical Requirements

Requires full range of body motion, handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, standing and walking for extended periods, and occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs. Corrected vision and hearing within normal range.

Work Environment

Medical office environment with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and medical preparations. Frequent interaction with staff, patients, and physicians.
