Job Duties

With the engineering internship position, the individual needs to be able to participate in a wide range of duties within the Engineering Department.

Some of the duties would be but not limited to;

* Inspection of public infrastructure work. This consists of the infrastructure installation for housing development, reconstruction of the infrastructure in our downtown area, road reconstruction projects and waterline replacement projects.

* Material testing

* Inspection of the city's storm drain infrastructure.

* General surveying for project design.

* GPS surveying for GIS map updates. Along with updating GIS maps.

* Designing and preparing plans with CAD.

* Calculating project quantities and helping with cost estimates.

* Helping other departments with projects.

Applicants must be enrolled in a college Engineering curriculum, Preferably Civil Engineering.

Dodge City is a growing community, with a lot of different projects and opportunities to gain experience. Our intern would be expected to help with all projects. Our normal office hours are from 7:30am to 5:30 pm Monday through Thursday and 7:30 to 11:30am on Friday. Of course there will/could be some overtime, if the project construction deems necessary. We are also flexible, so if you already have something planned for a part of the summer, we understand and will work with you
