Overview
This position will be responsible for the design development, testing, coordination, and maintenance schedule of the electric grid. The Electrical Engineer will perform detailed calculations and develop technical drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with relevant electrical specifications, codes, and standards.
ResponsibilitiesCreate a safe and secure working environment that coincides with the Cooperative’s safety guidelines for cooperative personnel as well as members and the public in general. The Electrical Engineer shall participate in and attend job training and safety programs as necessary and shall observe all safety rules, the safety manual, and first aid techniques. The Electrical Engineer should know electrical design of the Cooperative’s distribution network, staking, voltage and power standards, etc.,
and report problems or potential problems for corrective action.
The job may require irregular hours in emergency and storm situations with some night and weekend work with occasional travel to attend training, conferences, and meetings, in and out of state.
RelationshipsInternal
Supervised Employees - Keeping employees informed of the activities of the Cooperative and how it will affect positions that report to the Electrical Engineer and the day-to-day tasks. Help foster a positive work environment through teamwork, respect, and courtesy.
Management - Work with and learn from other members of the Management team in a professional manner to move the Cooperative forward and maintain a positive culture.
Other Employees – Cooperate with and maintain working relationships, while improving morale and exchanging ideas, information, and job experiences that will benefit the organization and ensure the continued progress of the cooperative.

- Explain the cooperative’s plans, procedures, service programs, and objectives as necessary to provide efficient and courteous service; resulting in good member relations.
General public – Maintain friendly, cooperative relationships with the general public and seek every opportunity to help the cooperative develop an understanding and acceptance of the cooperative’s plans, programs, and objectives.
Position Specifications PhysicalThis position is both indoor and outdoor. The job requires coordination, manual dexterity, and visual acuity, as well as the ability to continuously listen and communicate orally. Job will occasionally require bending, stooping, twisting, squatting, kneeling, and crouching. Job requires frequent sitting at a desk and operating office machines such as a keyboard, mouse, computer, two-way radio, telephone, and fax machine requiring frequent use of fingers and hands.

The task of position often requires intense concentration for long periods of time.
