Under the general supervision of the School Principal, facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district‑approved curriculum, documenting teaching and student progress, and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding progress, expectations, and goals.
Essential Functions- Develop and administer elementary curriculum consistent with district goals.
- Create a safe classroom environment conducive to individualized and small–group instruction.
- Plan and deliver instruction using lesson plans that maximize instructional time.
- Conduct ongoing assessment and modify instruction to meet individual student needs, including those with special needs.
- Teach responsible citizenship and other subject matter in accordance with laws and regulations.
- Continue professional development through seminars, workshops, meetings, or research.
- Maintain accurate records for grading, attendance and student activities as required.
- Encourage parental involvement and maintain effective communication with parents and students.
- Ensure student conduct adheres to school and district standards.
- Coordinate with grade‑level staff to evaluate curriculum and participate in faculty meetings.
- Select and requisition appropriate instructional materials and maintain inventory records.
- Supervise students during off‑classroom activities, including transportation.
- Administer standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs.
Perform other related tasks assigned by the Principal and central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
EquipmentUse standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Travel RequirementsTravel to district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, including differentiation for varied learning styles.
- Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and action‑plan formulation.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state education laws.
- Ability to use computer networks and software applications.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self‑evaluation for professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with colleagues.
Works in standard office and school building environments.
Qualifications Profile- Certification:
State certification as an elementary teacher. - Preferred:
State certification in the appropriate grade level.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in elementary education or a related discipline.
- Master’s degree in a related area is preferred.
Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level is a plus.
