Job Details- Location: Dixon, Illinois (61021)
- Position: Registered Nurse (RN), Medical/Surgical (Med/Surg), Night Shift
- Setting: Acute Care – Medical/Surgical Unit (Med/Surg)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (March 30, 2026 – June 29, 2026)
- Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) — Night shift RN
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend & Holiday Requirement: Every other weekend and holiday
- Charting System: EPIC (experience preferred)
- Scrub Color: Any (close-toed shoes required)
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2,130–$2,250 per week
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois or proof of application in process (Illinois nursing jobs, travel nurse applications accepted)
- BLS certification (AHA required)
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg nursing experience
- Ability to work every other weekend and holiday as scheduled
- Strong communication, clinical judgment, and teamwork skills
- Must pass a comprehensive drug screen (drug-free campus)
- Provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care to patients on a 23-bed (4th floor) and 14-bed (3rd floor) Med/Surg unit
- Manage patient assignments with typical ratios of 1:5 (up to 1:7 as needed)
- Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions; administer medications; and coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams
- Sign off on telemetry strips throughout the shift (telemetry techs scheduled to read strips)
- Collaborate with Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) working at a 1:8 ratio
- Float to ICU, ER, or Behavioral Health Care (BHC) when experienced and as needed—cross?training opportunities for acute care RNs
- Complete department-specific orientation and participate in ongoing professional development
- Maintain excellent hygiene and adhere to all safety and infection control protocols
