Position OverviewThis position is accountable for assisting the Documentation Technician with progress and final documentation audits of records prepared by resident engineers and/or technicians to verify construction contract items, compiling final contract pay quantities, and submitting the required documents to the central office to initiate final payment to contractors.
Essential Functions- Conducts progress and final documentation audits to ensure the necessary data is present to verify work completed by contractors, and to justify federal reimbursement.
- Reviews and processes all change orders, weekly reports, and pay estimates.
- Compiles final contract pay quantities and prepares and submits final papers to initiate final payment to contractors.
- Provides guidance to state and local agency resident engineers and/or technicians and contractors regarding proper documentation to expedite the audit process and ensure reliability.
- Responsible for complete and accurate documentation and coordination of work efforts with consultants.
- Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre‑engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum; PLUS thirty months of engineering experience or a related scientific field; OR Six years of engineering experience.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering and the application of engineering techniques to design and construction.
- Ability to maintain harmonious relationships with a variety of people.
- Ability to perform job duties independently with minimal guidance or supervision.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Requires a valid driver’s license.
- Requires district‑wide travel with occasional overnight stays for conferences and training.
- Requires the ability to work overtime.
- Requires successful completion of a background screening.
