An established engineering business is seeking a talented Project Design Engineer to take ownership of bespoke, project-based design work from concept through to completion.

This is an opportunity for a confident and commercially aware engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, working directly with clients, and seeing their designs delivered into reality. You will play a key role in leading the technical development of custom projects, collaborating across manufacturing, project management and installation teams to ensure successful delivery.

This is a senior technical role with full project responsibility, but no direct people management.

The Role  
Develop bespoke engineering solutions in response to client specifications and project requirements
Produce detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies and fabrication drawings using Solid Works
Generate GA drawings, manufacturing packs, technical documentation and Bills of Materials
Ensure designs meet safety, regulatory and quality standards
Provide technical input to support costing, scheduling and planning
Identify and resolve technical risks proactively
Act as a key technical contact for clients, attending meetings and responding to queries
Maintain accurate revision control and structured project documentation  About You  
Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
Strong experience in bespoke or engineered-to-order environments
Advanced Solid Works capability, including assemblies and drawing production
Good understanding of fabrication methods and Design for Manufacture (DFM)
Confident working directly with clients on technical requirements
Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
