Job Title: Lead Systems Engineer (High-Performance Electronic Systems) - Concept to Deployment
Location: Norfolk (Hybrid - 3 days on site)
Salary: Up to £65,000 + 3% Bonus
Sector: Advanced Electronics and High-Reliability Engineering
The Reality CheckIn many senior engineering roles, you end up pushed into pure management, losing touch with the actual hardware. You become a "paperwork engineer" rather than a problem solver. This role is designed for someone who wants the seniority of leading projects without losing their technical edge.
The OpportunityI am representing a high-performance engineering firm in Norfolk that develops advanced electronic systems for some of the most demanding applications in the world. They are looking for a broad, hands‑on Systems Engineer who enjoys working across the full product lifecycle, from early concept and design through to validation and global deployment.
Why This Role is Different- Fully Technical Leadership: You will lead development programmes and act as the technical authority for complex systems while staying "hands‑on" with hardware, sensors, and electronic design.
- Full Lifecycle Ownership: You aren't just a cog in the machine, you will own requirements definition, architecture, and system integration from start to finish.
- Broad Exposure: The role is intentionally varied, offering exposure across design, testing, production support, and continuous improvement.
- High‑Reliability Impact: You will be developing robust, reliable solutions for environments where failure isn't an option.
- Leading systems‑level development of electronic products from initial concept through to full‑scale production.
- Designing and validating electronic hardware with a heavy focus on advanced sensors (pressure, temperature, humidity, and signal conditioning).
- Coordinating activities across disciplines (Software, Manufacturing, and Test) to ensure manufacturable and robust designs.
- Planning and supporting testing, validation, and verification activities at the system level.
- Driving continuous improvement in product reliability and engineering processes.
- You are an experienced Engineer with a strong electronics background, comfortable working at both the system and component level.
- You have proven experience running projects or development programmes and can balance the "big picture" with technical detail.
- You have a hands‑on approach and a genuine willingness to remain technically involved in the hardware.
- Experience in regulated or high‑performance sectors (Motorsport, Automotive, Aerospace, or similar) is highly desirable.
- Salary: Up to £65,000 (negotiable based on experience).
- Bonus: Up to 3% annual bonus scheme.
- Holiday: 25 days holiday + 8 Bank Holidays.
- Working Pattern: Hybrid flexibility (3 days on‑site per week).
- Benefits: Group pension, Virtual GP access, Employee Assistance Programme, and a regular social/recognition scheme.
