Cleaning Services, Janitor
Under general supervision to perform a variety of unskilled and semiskilled work in the routine maintenance of buildings, facilities and related areas; and performs related duties as required. Opens and closes for facilities rentals, locks park restrooms in the evenings, clean up after rentals such as vacuums, mops, waxes, and polishes floors; vacuums and shampoos carpets; cleans and sanitizes restrooms; fills and replenishes supplies;
cleans walls, sinks, drinking fountains, and light fixtures; empties and cleans waste and recycle receptacles; assists in moving and arranging furniture and equipment and setting up rooms for special events; identifies and labels all chemicals used in the course of work in accordance to OSHA requirements; sweeps outside areas and sidewalks; keeps utility storage area and custodial equipment clean and in good order;
operates City vehicle; and performs additional duties as required.

- Operate a vehicle observing legal and defensive driving practices
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work
Any combination of education, experience and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. A typical qualifying entrance background is completion of twelfth grade or equivalent and one year of janitorial or related building maintenance experience.
License/CertificatePossession of a valid and appropriate California Driver's License issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENTRegularly use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms; frequently stand and talk or hear; occasionally walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and smell; frequently lift and/or move up 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Perform routine, repetitive work to completion; work at any employer location in the City; occasionally work in high, precarious places and exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals; and work an irregular work schedule.
