Senior Network Engineer – Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC)

Location:

Rutherford Appleton Laboratory Harwell, Oxfordshire.

Contract:

Permanent Full‑time.

Salary: £58,346 – £64,179 gross per annum (dependent on skills and experience).

Hours:

Full‑time with flexible working arrangements.

Requires SC Clearance.

• Support STFC WAN, sites LAN, routing, Wi‑Fi, firewall and network security, IPAM, network access control, and cloud telephony.
• Collaborate with other teams to ensure IT systems and services meet evolving needs.
• Participate in and oversee new service transitions.

• Enterprise firewall management.
• Network Access Control systems.
• Wi‑Fi management systems.
• Experience in routers and routing management.

• Managing multi‑site network environments.
• Configuring Layer 2 and Layer 3 network switches, including DNS and DHCP services.
• Experience with Extreme Cloud IQ Wi‑Fi management system or equivalent and knowledge of a Network Access Control system (preferably Clearpass).
• IP Address Management experience using Infoblox solutions or equivalent.
• Experience with fibre and cable management.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.

The role requires National Security Vetting clearance (SC). Eligible candidates must be UK residents for at least 5 years; all DV posts require UK nationals.
