Senior Network Engineer – Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC)
Location:
Rutherford Appleton Laboratory Harwell, Oxfordshire.
Contract:
Permanent Full‑time.
Salary: £58,346 – £64,179 gross per annum (dependent on skills and experience).
Hours:
Full‑time with flexible working arrangements.
Security:
Requires SC Clearance.

- Support STFC WAN, sites LAN, routing, Wi‑Fi, firewall and network security, IPAM, network access control, and cloud telephony.
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure IT systems and services meet evolving needs.
- Participate in and oversee new service transitions.
- Enterprise firewall management.
- Network Access Control systems.
- Wi‑Fi management systems.
- Experience in routers and routing management.
- Managing multi‑site network environments.
- Configuring Layer 2 and Layer 3 network switches, including DNS and DHCP services.
- Experience with Extreme Cloud IQ Wi‑Fi management system or equivalent and knowledge of a Network Access Control system (preferably Clearpass).
- IP Address Management experience using Infoblox solutions or equivalent.
- Experience with fibre and cable management.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
The role requires National Security Vetting clearance (SC). Eligible candidates must be UK residents for at least 5 years; all DV posts require UK nationals.
