Laser Applications Engineer, Didcot, £30,000pa – £45,000pa plus benefits: An amazing opportunity for a Lasers, Optical Engineering or Physics graduate or someone with two plus years of industry experience, with a keen interest in laser and optical engineering technology. The role is based in Didcot, Oxfordshire.

The role is part of a high performing laboratory team and involves developing laser micromachining processes for customers and running production work. You will work with state‑of‑the‑art laser systems covering UV to IR wavelengths and pulse durations from femtosecond to nanosecond, plus advanced motion‑control systems.

• Develop and optimise laser micromachining processes for a range of customers.
• Run and maintain production work on laser systems.
• Integrate and test complex laser systems.
• Program machine‑control software and interface with motion‑control hardware.
• Apply materials science, metrology and optical system knowledge to deliver high quality results.

• Good degree or MSc in Lasers, Optical Engineering, Physics, Engineering or a related qualification with practical experience.
• Practical experience in laser applications, especially micromachining.
• Knowledge of laser micro‑machining, system integration, machine‑control software, materials science, metrology tools such as microscopes and SEMs, and optical system design.
• Strong computer and IT skills.
• Industrial experience preferred.
