Overview
The purpose of the Transformer Maintenance position is to maintain adequate stock of transformers and maintain compliance on all issues with transformers and perform maintenance on DES Construction vehicles.
Responsibilities- Work with Purchasing Manager to maintain adequate stock of transformers.
- Do all work pertaining to polychlorinated biphenyls’ (PCB) oil sampling, retro-filling, and disposal and maintain detailed and current records and have them readily available for state or Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) audits.
- Oversee and/or perform all repairs for regulators, reclosers, and padmount transformers.
- Unload all new transformers and transport repaired transformers to and from repair shop.
- Tag all transformers with DES company number and maintain records of all transformer information.
- Review transformer billing and confirm accuracy of billing.
- Perform routine maintenance (PMs) such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair various types of truck equipment including, but not limited to the following:
Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Air conditioning systems, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Power steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc. knowledge in Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Systems. - Maintain adequate stock of filters for construction trucks.
- Purchase and maintain adequate stock of tires for construction trucks and have them ready at scheduled maintenance times.
- Maintain truck service records and schedule maintenance at regular intervals.
- Service and maintain stand by generators.
- Maintain service bay and pit area in the truck shop neat and organized.
- Additional duties as assigned by Construction Superintendent.
- Follow all DES safety guidelines and policies, including emergency procedures.
High School Diploma/ GED required. Mechanic Certification is a preferred. A minimum 3 years’ experience as a mechanic on Class 4 through 6 vehicles. Any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties.
