Overview
We are designing the grid of the future! The Associate Project Manager – IT, Cybersecurity & SOC 2 Compliance plays a crucial role in assisting with the planning, coordination, and execution of IT and cybersecurity projects within an environment regulated by SOC 2 standards. This individual is responsible for supporting projects to ensure they adhere to documented policies, follow rigorous change management procedures, and maintain security controls that are in line with SOC 2 Trust Services Criteria, specifically focusing on Security, Availability, Confidentiality, Processing Integrity, and Privacy.
Collaboration with IT Operations, Security, Compliance, and diverse business stakeholders is fundamental to this role, aiming to guarantee audit-ready execution and robust change governance throughout all projects.
- Assist in managing IT and cybersecurity projects within SOC 2 regulated environments to ensure compliance with established standards.
- Monitor and track project scope, timelines, risks, dependencies, and deliverables, ensuring all aspects are documented and up to date.
- Maintain comprehensive, audit‑ready project documentation, including project plans, status reports, and necessary approvals.
- Facilitate coordination and communication between IT, Security, Compliance teams, and third‑party vendors.
- Ensure that all project activities strictly adhere to documented policies, standards, and procedures.
- Prepare and submit Change Requests (RFCs), detailing risk assessments, business impacts, testing evidence, and rollback procedures.
- Coordinate change approvals with members of the Change Advisory Board (CAB).
- Ensure changes are implemented within approved maintenance windows to minimize disruption and maintain compliance.
- Collect and retain evidence such as change approvals, implementation documentation, and post‑implementation reviews to support SOC 2 audits.
- Support various cybersecurity initiatives, including security tool deployments, control enhancements, and remediation projects.
- Coordinate with security teams to verify secure configuration, testing, and deployment of IT solutions.
- Ensure that all security requirements are fully addressed before projects go live.
- Facilitate meetings focused on project and change‑related topics, fostering clear communication among all stakeholders.
- Communicate project status, identified risks, and compliance impacts to relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Escalate any issues that may affect security, compliance, or project delivery timelines to appropriate parties.
- Support coordination with vendors and track third‑party access as required for SOC 2 compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Basic understanding of IT systems, applications, and infrastructure.
- Familiarity with ITIL Change Management processes.
- Understanding of SOC 2 concepts or compliance environments.
- Strong documentation and organizational skills.
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Internship or entry‑level experience in IT, cybersecurity, compliance, or project coordination.
- Completion of ITIL Foundation certification or related coursework.
- Exposure to SOC 2, GRC, or audit processes.
- Familiarity with ticketing and change management tool Jira.
- Interest in cybersecurity governance, risk management, and compliance (GRC).
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to established processes.
- Ability to follow and enforce documented controls.
- Effective coordination skills across technical and compliance teams.
- Capacity to balance the speed of delivery while meeting compliance requirements.
- Audit‑ready mindset and disciplined approach to collecting evidence.
